The skies may be grey and full of gloomy rain but from inside the doors of Notting Hill’s exclusive vegan, non-alcoholic restaurant Redemption, comes their angelic January detox menu, filled with colourful, clean food.

The team at Redemption pride themselves on serving luxury vegan food that is as medicinal as it is delicious, and the January menu items have been created with ingredients that are renowned for their cleansing qualities.

Would I Want Seconds?

The newly released January detox menu adds to Redemption’s philosophy, ‘spoil yourself without spoiling yourself’ and as both myself and my fellow diner were experiences the side affects of the festive season and suffering from colds, we started by ordering the Flu Fighter mocktail. This consisted of a fiery combination of ginger, chilli, aloe vera, coconut water, orange, lemon, and lime juice, with apple and elderflower cordial and it certainly did the job of waking up my taste buds ready for the food!

From the food menu we ordered the maki rolls platter which arrived as an attractive array of maki rolls filled with red and black quinoa, avocado, enoki mushroom, sesame seeds and micro amaranth shoots. Now I love sushi and would eat a platter of maki any day and these healthy vegetarian versions were just as good.

We also tried the grilled aubergine tahini and sauteed greens as a side dish, both of which tasted delectable and worked well together.

Redemption also offer a selection of good-for-you desserts which include lemon and blueberry cheesecake made with activated raw cashew cream an almond, sprouted buckwheat and date base as well as dark chocolate bliss balls which consist of raw cocoa, coconut oil and medjool dates rolled in chopped hazelnuts or coconut. Although the desserts looked delicious we were so stuffed on quinoa that we certainly couldn’t manage to eat a dessert as well, all of which sounded quite heavy.

Could I Afford Seconds?

Redemption is an averagely priced restaurant serving innovative and above average food. Main courses were about £12 - £15 each and are served in large portions whilst side dishes and starters are between £4 - £6.

Our mocktails at Redemption were £5.50 each which is a fair price considering the lack of alcohol.

Overall?

The food at Redemption uses key ingredients that assist in raising metabolism, aiding digestion and boosting your immune system, while helping lose weight too. This is ideal for all those on a strict regime as Redemption offers you the option of eating out without breaking your dieting rules.
