Bondi Green is one of the newest additions to the ever-popular Daisy Green Collection of restaurants. Located right by the Grand Union Canal in Paddington, this is the perfect location to spend a leisurely afternoon over a Sunday Roast.

Although Bondi Green is located in a large, warehouse style space, there is still a welcoming and comforting feel to it, especially as there are distinct sections with their own style. This includes an in-house bakery, and works on arts of which my favourite is the Australian Supermarket made from felt!

Food?

We took our seat by the window, surrounded by lush plants and a view of the canal, and couldn’t wait to get started.

The Sunday Roast menu is a simple one, but with all the options that you need. We opted for the HG Walter prime leg of lamb, and the 45-day aged HG Walter beef. When the portions arrived, they were truly enormous, especially with the addition of vegetables, roast parsnips, a massive Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and not forgetting the special Australian addition - a cheese fugly! There is also a decadent gravy served with the roast which is made with beef, and vegan and vegetarian alternatives are also available.

We also ordered both sides which are available, the cauliflower cheese and crispy kimchi brussel sprouts, which I loved!

It was evident that all the ingredients, especially the meat, were of a high quality and were very well cooked. I loved that the roast arrives with an array of extra vegetables and sides on the plate, which means all the focus isn’t all on the meat and you don’t feel too guilty eating it all!

After a bit of a break, we turned to the dessert menu, which takes inspiration from nostalgic desserts presented with a modern twist. We opted for the infamous TJ Knickerbocker glory, which is renowned for its size and flavour. We also tried the sticky toffee pudding with dates, salted caramel sauce, milk ice cream.

The knickerbocker glory was surprisingly easy to finish, as despite its size, there is a good balance of fruit, cream and meringue, meaning it wasn’t an overly sweet or an overwhelming dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was decadent and delicious and the addition of the milk ice cream was inspired as it helped it cut through the sweetness of the toffee.

Price?

Sunday Roast at Bondi Green costs approximately £18 for the main dish, and about £5 per side. This is an extremely reasonable prize for the sheer amount of food you get, as well as high quality. Desserts are priced at approximately £7.50 and are a lovely way to end the epic roast.

Overall?

Bondi Green is a vibrant and lively restaurant which makes a great place to enjoy a Sunday Roast with an Aussie Twist. It’s a great alternative to a pub roast and available at a very reasonable price, making it well worth a try!
