Travel: My seven travel highlights of 2017

My seven favourite travel destinations in 2017

I’ve had a fabulous year of adventures across the globe, and before looking forward to another year of travel, I thought I'd look back, appreciate, and share with you some of my highlights of 2017.

1. Amalfi Coast, Italy

The Amalfi coast is one of the most beautiful parts of Italy I’ve visited. We had the chance to explore Positano, Sorrento and the Island of Capri.
Although it takes a while to travel in between them, and ideally you need a car to make the journey, it is well worth the journey!

2. Kerala, India

Staying on a boat in the middle of lake with nothing but rice paddies, palm trees and beautiful birds surrounding you was one of the most magical experiences of my life. We had a private chef and captain looking after us and I even got the chance to drive the boat!
I’m not much of a water person, but I won’t forget this experience for all the right reasons.

3. Dubai

Dubai is known for its luxury, glitz and glamour, yet this year on my trip to Dubai I discovered the other side to the city of opulence. Through exploring the spice souks of Dubai I encountered the real Dubai, frequented by the working population of the city. Full of delicious little restaurants, quirky shops and hidden antiques, this is the part of Dubai I liked best. Though of course the beach was gorgeous too!

4. Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik has been on my must-visit list for a while, and as I had been to Croatia before, I had high expectations. Dubrovnik certainly did not disappoint, as it had everything you would need for a summer break. Delicious seafood, a beautiful coast line and plenty of winding streets to explore - this is one destination I will definitely be heading back to.

5. Valencia, Spain

Valencia is always a draw for foodies but what I really enjoyed about this city was the culture which it is positively brimming with. Massive aquariums, science museums and even open air films shown in the local squares. Valencia is a hive of activity and a must see for those who love to explore.

6. Montreux, Switzerland

I'd never visited a cold country in the Winter months before, however, this is something which I need to do more of, as visiting Switzerland in December opened my eyes to the delights I was missing out on.
Festive Christmas markets, scaling beautiful snow-capped mountains and snowball fights are all something I look forward to seeing more of!

7. Jordan

Jordan is a country which is difficult to surmise in a few lines. I am so grateful to have had the chance to visit and travel around a country so full of the most majestic landscapes I have ever seen.
Jordan is full of unbelievable places like Wadi Rum dessert which used to be entirely submerged, Petra which was built in around 300 BC, and the Dead Sea in which you can float to the city of Amman, sprawling across seven hills. My favourite travel highlight of 2017 simply has to be Jordan.

Destinations I'd love to visit in 2018!

Cappadocia, Turkey - This beautiful city looks amazing in every picture I've seen. Full of history and amazing things to do in Cappadocia, this is exactly my kind of travel destination!

Road trip through Scandinavia - The natural landscape in Scandinavia is so tranquil and unspoilt I can't wait to explore it! Norway looks like an especially beautiful country and I'd absolutely love to take a laid-back raid trip through Norway.

What's been your travel highlight this year?
