Hello you!

Welcome to my slow travel diaries - exploring resorts, hotels and restaurants from a slow travel perspective.

Grub Crawl, Brixton Village

Grub Crawl, Brixton Village

As a total foodie, when I heard about the concept behind Grub Crawl, I just couldn’t wait to try it out!

The idea behind Grub Crawl is simple but enticing - you have your starter in one restaurant, main in another and, dessert in another, allowing you to try out three different restaurant in one go - #FoodieHeaven!

Grub Crawl is run by Hannah (of That Adventurer) and we met her one evening in Brixton earlier this month to start our foodie adventure.

We started off in Champagne + Fromage and began with platters full of cheeses, meats, charcuterie and breads together with lovely Champagne to accompany it! The highlight here was the blueberry salami which I had not come across before but tasted delicious!

This was then followed by a wide selection of of the restaurant’s gorgeous tartines including blue cheese with fig, a sausage and cheese, ham and cheese, and potato and cheese tartine, all of which were a pleasure to try.

Once we had sampled much of the starters we headed to French & Grace for our Middle Eastern style main course. We started with cocktails and I tried the Prosecco and pomegranate which was lovely and fresh.

The first round of food here were mezze platters consisting of labneh (salted and strained yoghurt with a garlic and mint oil) and muhammara (spicy walnut and tomato) and candied beetroots with smoked feta. We also had rosemary and butterbean hummus with shredded lamb and delicious grilled haloumi made with 100% sheep's milk. As well as this we also tried a half a wrap, which was filled with chorizo, halloumi, coleslaw, bulgar wheat, harissa and tahini.

The flavours in each of these plates were vivid and flavourful, making French & Grace a restaurant I will definitely be heading back to soon.

Although we were all quite stuffed at this point, no Grub Crawl is complete without dessert!

For our final course we moved down to Sponge & Cream for cake. The cakes at Sponge & Cream have a reputation for being irresistible and beautifully presented. I tried the coffee and walnut which was served as a huge decadent slice, perfect to end the evening!

I had a great time on the Grub Crawl and Hannah was a wonderful host! As well as wonderful food I also have beautiful company in the form of fellow bloggers.
