Orange Marmalade Apple Tart Fine - Autumn Recipe
Orange Marmalade Apple Tart Fine - Recipe
During the colder months, as the nights draw in and the hours of sunlight dwindle, I spend more time cooking in my cosy kitchen.
Of course my favourite thing to cook are desserts, especially comforting warming ones! This orange marmalade apple tart fine recipe is one of my favourites, as it is so easy to make with just a few everyday ingredients. This means it can be prepared without too much notice or preparation, making it a handy recipe to have to hand when you fancy something warm and sweet but don’t want to spend too much time slaving over it.
I found that the hardest part of cooking this dish was actually slicing the apples, as it can often take a while and it is also quite difficult to achieve consistently even slices. However, this time around I used Microplane’s V-Blade Slicer, which sped up the whole process significantly! This compact mandolin has two slicing options which are easy to switch between, as well as the ability to adjust the thickness of the slice with it’s infinity dial. Using the V-Blade Slicer meant I could effortlessly and precisely slice 5 apples within a matter of minutes.
I prefer to grate fresh cinnamon rather than using cinnamon powder, as you can really smell and taste the difference in freshness and quality. I used Microplane’s new neon Premium Classic Zester to do this and was really impressed with the results, as it was quick and easy to cover the tart in a fine dusting of fragrant cinnamon.
My ideal combination for this delicious dessert is a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with the zest of an orange to add a little sharpness and colour. I also used the Microplane Zester for this as it allowed me to quickly and easily add the orange zest over the tart before the ice cream melted.
With my tips above, this orange marmalade apple tart fine recipe can be whipped up in less than 30mins, and will make your kitchen smell autumnal and very inviting. Give it a go using the instructions below:
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
250g puff pastry
4 Gala apples
50g orange marmalade
1 cinnamon stick (or cinnamon powder)
20g unsalted butter (melted)
50g caster sugar
Vanilla ice cream to serve (optional)
Large orange to zest (optional)
Method
Preheat the oven to 180 degree
Roll the pastry out to a thickness of approximately 3mm. Place a side plate upside down onto the pastry and cut around this to form a perfect circle.
Line a baking tray with baking paper, then place the circular pastry on top. Prick all over with a fork to allow for even air-flow.
Peel the apples, core and half. Then slice them evenly to a medium thickness, I recommend using the Microplane V-Blade Slicer to get perfect slices every-time.
Place the apple slices onto the pastry, overlapping the slices tightly and in a circular shape to create an inward spiral.
Brush the apples lightly with the melted butter then sprinkle the sugar evenly over the apples.
Bake for approximately 15-20mins until pastry is crisp and the apples are golden and caramelised in places.
Brush the top of the pastry with orange marmalade and use Microplane’s Premium Classic Zester to grate some fresh cinnamon over it.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and top with grated orange zest.
Enjoy the fresh cinnamon and orange flavours and the buttery crispy pastry and sweet apple in every bite. Perfect for a cosy night-in and cooked without much effort thanks to the Microplane V-Blade Slicer and Premium Classic Zester.
