12 Luxury Restaurants in Marrakech - Medina, Gueliz & Palmeraie
I’ve visited Marrakech 5 times over the past 8 years and in this time I’ve seen the city evolve and grow. I’ve also seen the range of food on offer change and adapt to cater for both the locals and the ever increasing number of visitors.
Last year I spent a whole month in Marrakech soaking up the atmosphere. I had the opportunity to explore the Medina, the new town of Gueliz and the luxurious Palmeraie,
Here are my favourite luxury restaurants from my time spent is the dynamic and scintillating city!
Marrakesh Medina
Naranj
My favourite restaurant in the Medina and one I’d love to go back to is Naranj. Serving Lebanese food, this restaurant makes a nice change from the host of others who offer traditional Moroccan fare.
I enjoyed everything from the refreshing pink lemonade, light watermelon salad and incredible main courses including shawarma, fatet Batinjane (aubergine and minced meat served with pita) and of course the mezze! Eat your fill of delicious falafel, Kibbeh, hommos and fattouche as Naranj is a restaurant not to be missed.
Le Trou Au Mur
Frequently cited as one of the best newly opened restaurants in Marrakech, Le Trou au Mur is a cosy and intimate restaurant offering a modern take on Moroccan food. There’s a mix of traditional dishes and fun extras on the menu, all explained and served by a friendly and enthusiastic staff.
Ask for a table on the rooftop in Summer, otherwise a table in the inside dining room is just as good, if not more romantic. Must-try dishes include mixed meshoui lamb cooked the traditional way in a clay pot for a number of hours, as well as the Moroccan doughnuts with 3 fillings which you fill yourself from three syringes!
Perfect for a romantic night-out, the high quality food and service at Le Trou au Mur are its stand-out features.

La Table Du Riad
Hidden away in the luxurious boutique Riad 72, La Table du Riad is an exclusive restaurant that gets book up fast. Dinner is served in the main front courtyard of the Riad, which is full of plush palms, calming music and attentive staff.
We ordered our hand-rolled couscous and meshoui dishes earlier in the day, as all the food here is freshly made and these two dishes in particular need a few hours to be prepared. It may be slightly hard to find as it is not located in the centre of the medina, but Le Table du Riad it is certainly worth the trip.

Le Riad Monceaur
Le Riad Monceaur is one of the long standing restaurants in Marrakech, and it oozes luxury from the very entrance. The dining area is located around the courtyard of the riad, and surrounds a turquoise plunge pool, ornate stucco walls, and a view of the night sky above.
The menu is traditional Moroccan food, with the option of a tasting menu that offers a taste of the highlights of the menu. We ordered from the a la carte menu and were impressed by the quality of the dishes and their presentation. The chicken pastilla was a standout and one of the best pastillas I’ve tried.
There is also a classy rooftop cocktail bar on the called La Pergola, which has live jazz in a luxurious setting.

Le Table du Palais
There’s nothing better than a fresh Moroccan lunch under the palms of Le Table du Palais. Located in the gardens of the grandiose Riad Palais Lamrani, dining here is reminiscent of eating in a secret garden.
The menu is short and includes Moroccan and French influences and the quality of the food is high. For a break from the overbearing souks, Le Table du Palais provide a tranquil and peaceful setting.

Gueliz
Restaurant Le Studio
Run by the fabulously eccentric and enthusiastic Steeve and Didier, this French restaurant and wine bar is the hub of the French ex-pat community in Marrakech.
We sampled delicious wines and decadent dishes hand-picked by Steeve, each of which was scrumptious and full of flavour. The European themed restaurant and menu made a nice change from other traditional Moroccan restaurants, and Le Studio has managed to capture perfectly the modern, charming and eclectic feel of Gueliz.
