The Lanesborough is one of London’s most elegant hotels, and the main restaurant Céleste takes this luxury to an even grander level. Michelin-starred Céleste is a beautiful fine dining restaurant which honours British heritage and modern European creativity.
The dining room is richly decorated and adorned in gold. It is naturally illuminated with it’s beautiful domed glass roof dotted with beautiful chandeliers.
Food?
The menu at Céleste offers an array of decadent dishes and its difficult to choose which ones to go for!
On recommendation I started with the courgette flower dish, which was stuffed with courgette farce and goat’s cheese basil pesto. This was a delicious dish full of delicate, inviting flavours!
For our main course we tried the grilled lamb chops with tandoori sausage, courgette couscous and charcoal-fired red pepper coulis. I also had the rabbit served with grilled octopus, an unusual but delicious combination.
The dessert menu is immensely tempting and we opted for the coffee dessert with coffee ice, pecan nut and milk chocolate chantilly cream. Not only was the dessert beautifully presented, it also encapsulated all my favourite decadent flavours of chocolate and coffee in one dish!
We also tried a lighter, more fruity raspberry dessert with fresh raspberries, basil sponge cake and curd sorbet. This was a delicate and delightful dish!
Price?
All our dishes were composed with the utmost thought and precision by the head chef, whom I even had the pleasure of meeting! As a result of this level of quality the prices are reflective of the luxury nature of the venue.
Overall?
Céleste is open daily for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, and I cannot think of a more enchanting venue to dine in on any of these occasions.
I certainly enjoyed my lunch here with a view across the glorious dining room. I’d recommend Céleste at the Lanesborough Hotel to all looking for a destination for a high-end celebratory meal!
