Fine wines delivered to your door with Clara

October saw the launch of new fine wine subscription service, Clara. This much anticipated new data-led wine subscription service launched to a room full of avid foodies and a night of laughs, nibbles – and most importantly, wine!

When registering for Clara Wines, users are asked to complete a 'taste quiz', sorting them into one of 12 Tribes which cluster like-palated tasters. These Tribes reflect what users tend to enjoy in the world of flavour, aroma and taste. The Tribes are split into 4 white, 4 red, 3 sparkling and 1 rogue Tribe, for those who refuse to fit into any clearly defined group.

This allocation is determined by algorithms, and the launch event saw this put to the test with a battle between ‘Man’ and ‘Machine’. The ‘Man’ being Salvatore, a highly experienced traditional sommelier from the RAC Club in London, and the ‘Machine’ – Clara’s new data-led algorithm. And the result? The ‘Machine’ beat the ‘Man’ over 75% of the time!

Clara’s vision is to create a community of informed wine lovers, by bringing eclectic new surprises to your door monthly. In fact, receiving specially selected wine sent to my door is something I could definitely get used to!
