The Cheltenham Festival is one of the most exciting events in the UK racing calendar. Cheltenham is a great place to be during this festival and The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie is a fabulous place to celebrate it. The restaurant itself is themed around the races, with a large horse racing mural painted across the walls of the circular central dining room. The stunning circular bar is also located in the centre of the main dining room, and it is a great place to enjoy a drink before your meal.

Food?

During our visit we dined from the traditional a la carte menu which offers a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

To start, we tried the truffle mushroom and potato rosti dish. This was a creamy dish which was served with a delicious poached egg on top.

For our main courses, we tried the rib-eye on the bone which was from a UK supplier as well as dry-aged and grass-fed. We also tried the roasted lamb cutlet with apple and potato mash. This was a well balanced dish with a good combination of textures as well as flavours.

For dessert we tried the waiters recommendation of malted banana ice-cream served with chocolate brownie, caramelised bananas and candid nuts. I also ordered the white hot chocolate, which ended the meal on a delicious sweet note.

Price?

The starters at The Ivy cost between £6-£13, with main courses ranging from £14 - £25 depending on whether you go for a vegetarian or meat dish. The dessert menu ranged from between £7-£9.

Overall?

The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie is the perfect place to celebrate the Cheltenham Festival, with it’s indulgent menu, classy cocktails, and special events to celebrate the occasion too!
