Luxury in the heart of Central Vietnam - Hyatt Regency Da Nang Resort and Spa
Hyatt Regency Da Nang Resort and Spa - Luxury Hotel Review
Location: Da Nang, Vietnam
Price: £££
Value for Money: 5/5
Overall: 5/5
Perfect for: Lounging by the beautiful beach, delicious on-site restaurants
The first time I travelled through Vietnam a few years ago, I made all the usual stops of Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Nha Trang and Ha Long Bay, but I didn’t visit Da Nang. This time round I wanted to change that and ensure I spent a good amount of time in Da Nang and Hoi An, and I wasn’t disappointed.
We flew into Da Nang airport and after a few chaotic minutes booking a Grab and looking around the entire car park for the correct driver, we finally hopped in and were on our way to our first stop - Hyatt Regency Da Nang.
Location
Hyatt Regency Da Nang is located on the breath-taking white sandy stretch of Non Nuoc beach. I had just visited Phuket a week earlier and I thought I’d seen beautiful beaches, but this was just as stunning.
The hotel is well located for access to the tranquil beach, as well as a 20 minute drive from the airport, 10 minutes from Marble Mountains and in close proximity to UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Hoi An, Hue and My Son.
TOP TIP: Be aware of Grab scams at Da Nang Airport, as other drivers will pretend they are your driver. Book a transfer with the hotel for a stress-free journey, or ensure the app is correctly set up to pay via card rather than cash to avoid this.
Style & Decor
Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa has a contemporary design which is accented by Vietnamese-style architectural elements. The muted tones in the floors and ceilings give a calm and relaxing vibe, as do the open air elements such as the reception.
There is also a minimalist charm to the resort, which chooses instead to highlight the views of the sun-kissed beach rather than distract from this.
Accommodation
The resort comprises 198 guest rooms and suites, 142 one-to-three bedroom residences and 18 three-bedroom villas.
We stayed in the beautiful 1 King Bed Ocean View Room, which provided a gorgeous view of the main pool and the pristine beach with rolling waves from the balcony, bed and even the bathtub!
The spacious air-conditioned room included a seating area as well as walk-in closet for our bags. The room was equipped with a flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities, mini-bar in the fridge and a large marble bathroom with a bathtub and rain shower
The room was incredibly comfortable, and I enjoyed having a daybed on the balcony outside, as well as a seating space inside too.
Dining
As you know I choose my hotels based on their dining options, and Hyatt Regency Da Nang has a range of enticing on-site dining options.
Vive Océane - Beach Club & Restaurant
For dinner on our first night, we started with drinks on the beachfront outdoor terrace at Vive Océane. We enjoyed a few leisurely cocktails with the incredible panoramic beach views and cooling sea breeze whilst the sunset, before moving inside for our dinner.
Vive Océane serves French Mediterranean and Vietnamese flavors, focuses on local seafood and fresh flavours. There is also an impressive open kitchen where diners can see their order being prepared and plated.
We tried an assortment of dishes on a sharing basis, and my favourites were definitely the seafood dishes, included the zesty yellowtail carpaccio and delicately seared seabass. I also enjoyed the bao buns and recommend trying the soft shell crab and pork belly bao buns.
There is also a large choice of grilled meat, cooked with your choice of rub, as well as salad and sides.
Osteria al Mare
Osteria al Mare is the resort’s all-day Italian restaurant. We enjoyed a casual dinner here and tried the parma ham pizza cooked in their very own wood-fired oven, as well as the ravioli carbonara. This is a great option for those wanted a break for Vietnamese or Asian flavours for a meal and indulge in good Italian fare.
Baguette
Baguette is the resorts European-style cafe located by the spa. This is a nice spot for home-made pasties, cakes and even home-made ice cream. It also serves as a small store selling traditional Vietnamese grocery products and a select range of Western items too. Guests can also enjoy a 50% discount on bread, cakes, pastries and other selected items during Happy Hours, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.
Breakfast
Breakfast at Hyatt Regency Da Nang is pretty special, as they have a wide variety of cuisines and dishes in their buffet.
Breakfast is served in each of the different restaurants, and depending on the time you arrive and how busy the resort is, you’ll be directed to the correct one.
I was impressed with the Vietnamese dishes at breakfast, including traditional rice cakes from Hue City, Vietnamese fried eggs, freshly made-to-order pho, fried pork belly with crispy skin, and even build your own Banh Mi!
There’s also the usually Western selection including bread and pastries, as well as Indian dishes, fresh fruits and juices, and of course delicious Vietnamese coffee. I recommend arriving early so you can try and few different things, enjoying a leisurely breakfast.
Relaxing
I loved that there were plenty of spots to relax on the resort. There are sun beds, bean bags and comfy seating located all over the grounds.
We spent hours on the hammocks underneath the palm trees on the beach, as well as on the sun beds on the white sands. I particularly enjoyed relaxing on the large sun bed booths facing the sea, as there was a beautiful sea breeze cooling us down.
There’s also plenty of sun beds by the pools where you can lounge and dip into the pool to cool down. The Pool House also serves drinks and snacks to most of these areas, so you can stay hydrated as you lounge the day away.
Facilities
Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa has an incredible and high quality range of facilities. The large pool snakes around the resort and is connected through what looks like canals which you can swim through. There is a beach side pool which is perfect for kids, as are the array of pool floats which are fun for big kids too!
There is also an outdoor fitness pool by the gym. I was especially impressed by the sauna and spa located in the fitness centre, as it was of a very high quality and design, and included a plunge pool and jacuzzi too.
Vie Spa has a range of spa treatments catering to all kinds of wellness and healing needs and the therapy pools all including an outdoor bathtub too.
There is also the option to do some water sports activities such as a body boarding, kayaking, and standup paddle boarding too. Alternatively there’s also a schedule for their recreation activities which start from 6:45am to 8pm. These activities include yoga, beachfront meditation, boxing classes, volleyball and movie night, many of which are complimentary for guests.
Overall
There’s no denying that Hyatt Regency Da Nang is an incredible resort. It’s not just the pristine beaches and rolling turquoise waves which gives this hotel its luxury feel. Instead the attentive and friendly service from all staff, the high quality rooms and the fantastic cuisine all contribute to a relaxing and indulgent beach holiday.
I would recommend Hyatt Regency Da Nang for couples, families and large groups too, as it effortlessly caters for all needs. I had a very enjoyable few nights here, and hope to head back soon!
