Easy Rum Cocktail Recipes to CELEBRATE National Rum Month
Celebrate National Rum Month with these delicious Cocktail Recipes!
July is National Rum Month, a month dedicated to my favourite spirit of them all. From mojitos to piña coladas and daiquiris, there’s a rum cocktail to satisfy all tastes. Here are my current favourite rums and some quick cocktails recipes to give you some inspiration.
Rumbullion!
One of my favourite go-to rums is Rumbullion! from Ableforth’s. With delicious notes of vanilla and citrus and a lovely spicy finish of cardamom and cloves, it is full-bodied and perfect with just ice.
Cocktail: Rum Old-Fashioned
Ingredients:
50 ml Rumbullion!
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
20ml sugar syrup (equal parts sugar and water mixed together until dissolved)
Lots of good quality ice, preferably an ice ball.
To garnish: Orange peel
Method:
Simply stir the ingredients together vigorously and pour over the ice. Add the orange peel and sip!
Central Galactic Spiced Rum
Like its namesake, this rum is out of this world! With a distinct taste and aroma of muddled raspberries as well as hints of spices and citrus, this is a great rum for exotic cocktails to bring out the most of its unique flavour.
Cocktail: No Nonsense Daiquiri
Ingredients:
50 ml Central Galactic Spiced Rum
10ml sugar syrup (see above)
20ml fresh lime juice
Lots of ice
For the rim:
1 small lime wedge
Sugar
Method:
Simply add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and give it a good shake then pour into a cocktail glass garnished with the sugar and lime wedge. Sit back and relax!

Foursquare 12 Year Old (That Boutique-y Rum Company)
This is hands down my favourite rum right now. A 12 year old rum from Foursquare Distillery in Barbados which has notes of everything I love to smell and taste in a rum. It’s smoky, oaky and malty with lingering notes of coffee, cigars, toffee, honeycomb, and spiced fruits. I’ll be honest, I think it’s best poured over an ice cube but I think it would elevate any cocktail.
Cocktail: Spiced Mojito
Ingredients:
50ml Foursquare 12 Year Old Rum
100ml Soda Water
25ml Sugar Syrup
Juice of 2 Limes
Small handful of Mint Leaves
Plenty of crushed ice
Method:
Mix the sugar syrup, limes and mint leaves into a cocktail shaker and muddle with a rolling pin or muddler if you have one. Make sure to squeeze hard to get all the juice out and fragrance from the mint. Add the rum and shake vigorously (with lid on of course) Pour into a tall glass filled with crushed ice. Top with the soda water and stir several times to release the flavour.
So those are some of my favourite rums and a few quick and easy cocktails to make at home. Happy Rum Month and remember to drink responsibly.
Special thanks to Master of Malt for supplying the rums.
